Prototype Compact Nesting Kit

Rewind to early 2013 and the FIRST PROTOTYPE for the Compact Nesting Kit.  We didn’t even have a name for it yet. ​

This is the concept kit before sanding and oil/wax.  Derek brought it upstairs, giddy with excitement!  We discussed the latches, the way the toms and snare were attached to the bass drum, and the seam joinery. (That’s right, this kit is BEFORE Seam Lips!)

​It was the start of an incredible journey into the world of nesting drums!

After reviewing the positives and negatives of the this test kit, we sanded, oiled, and waxed the raw shells, popped it in a case, and sent it out to the touring Danny Young for testing!
