Split Snares
Keeping alive a "sound" tradition going back a generation or two, TreeHouse Custom Drums' Split Snares offer fantastic sensitivity and tone. When outfitted with multi-strand strainers, these drums offer more sonic possibilities than any other snares in the TreeHouse lineup. With great respect and a nod to our Drumbuilding Forebearers including the Ludwig Slotted Coliseum and the Hinger Space-Tone (patent #4,300,437, now expired), TreeHouse Split Snares feature the ability to split open up to 1 ⅜ inches, thus going from 7" deep drums to snare drums 8⅜" in depth producing louder tones and crisper snare responses. While played "shut," they make great symphonic instruments when made with the optional multi-strand strainers.
The fun begins when you experiment with how much to open, or how wide to split the shell! For more drum-sound-geekery, try micing from the side instead of -- or in addition to -- micing from the top/bottom to dial in the perfect snare tone for your studio project. With fun options like diecast/wooden/S/12-lug hoops, shell woods, re-rings, natural heads, wire choices and more, you can really dial in the sound you need! These drums can be made deeper at no extra charge, but 7" is the minimum depth needed to accommodate the slotted aluminum rails used to dial in the gap.
