Popular Colors
For many years, each dyed maple project had its own color recipe. Over time, some popular shades, hues, and tints rose to the top, and are shown below. Although you can still get a unique color, if you see one here that you like, the recipe is in hand and ready to go!
Dyed Maple Shells - Standard
Here's a sampling of our most popular colors on Maple. These samples are shown dyed, oiled, and waxed with satin wax finish in a variety of lighting settings.
Click on any color square below to see projects which proudly wear that hue. Please note that some of these samples appear different from one another. Like in real life, any shade will look different under LED lights, Fluorescents, Indirect Sunlight, etc. Hopefully these will "shed some light" on what the colors really look like!

Dyed Maple Shells - Upgrade
Some popular colors are much more involved and have a surcharge. The first example of this is AZTECA GOLD which involves "Stacking" colors by dying the shell, sanding off most of the color, and dying again with a different color recipe. The result offers the neat feature of looking like a sort of yellowish-orange color straight on, but darkening to a rich orange as your focus moves to the edges. This sample is shown dyed, oiled, and waxed with satin wax finish.
Dyed Vintage Shells
The aniline dyes TreeHouse uses to color shells produce different end results on Mahogany than Maple. Here's a sampling of our most popular colors on Mahogany. These samples are shown dyed, oiled, and waxed with satin wax finish.
