Compact Kits by TreeHouse Custom Drums are just that—custom. Below are a few common configurations, but tweak as you like: go with different bearing edges, add some cymbal arms, change the shell depths, choose different thicknesses, if you don’t want to nest a snare then your floor tom could be a little deeper while your bass could be a little shallower, etc; it’s up to you. There are a few rules in order to get everything to nest just right--
- Ya gotta maintain at least a 3" difference in diameter between nested drums. A 10" snugs right into a 13"; I WISH a 12" would fit in a 14"
- 4½" is the shallowest your snare can be and still mount with the standard arm
- Add your floor tom height plus your snare height plus 1½" to find out the shallowest your bass can be. For example, a 10" deep floor tom plus 4½" snare fits just right in the 16" deep bass. To get a 5½" snare to nest, either the bass becomes 17" deep or the floor shortens to 9" deep.
