When a great family at a neighboring city retired from 40 years of operating their drumstore, they offered me a couple of new 11x14 raw shells that they'd had for years, shells from DW to show folks how they make their tubes of wood. These demo shells, never to be re-acquired, were in perfect condition and needed to be made into instruments. The timing of their arrival was perfect to help debut our new Symphonic Snare series by showing that you can order these drums with options besides those seen in the Production Symphonic Snare series. This instrument features all the same specs as the Production Symphonic Snare series (this one with twenty Vintage Single Beavertail Lugs) showing off its fantastic 7-ply shell with re-rings. This shell composition features 7 plies of maple veneers with 3-ply maple reinforcing rings (whose final plies are beautifully flamey!). The 11" depth gets you a great Field Snare without chewing up so much space on the storage shelf, or can be tuned higher for a delicate instrument with fantastic body.
